New Car Stereo VS Old Car Stereo

People usually like to spend their leisure time in accordance with their choices. One of the most common pass times is listening to music. Thanks to the advancement in technology, one can now listen to his or her favorite music while driving the car. The car stereo system has made this dream come true.
A car stereo is a sound system that is fixed inside an automobile. Nowadays we do not have to buy and install a car stereo; most of the time it is pre-built inside a car. It includes a number of equipment like amplifiers, speakers, and CD or cassette player. The features include specially designed in built items to go with the design and components of the car.
The demand for car stereos is rising so much that manufacturers of home audio system are investing in this field. This resulted in tough competition that compelled the makers to update the technology and provide similar features at a much cheaper rate.
Before buying the audio system, one should consider some points. It is important to see whether the car stereo fits in the car or not. Car stereos are bought for great sounds, so checking the sound quality before buying is also a good idea.
People used to put their battery operated music system inside the car for the listening experience; however, it was before the invention of car stereo. The drawback was the inability to cope with the high temperature and the shake inside the car. The first car stereo speaker that came to the market was a radio fitted in the dashboard with two speakers in the front door.
Motorola was the first to bring this kind of car stereo to market. The battery of the old car stereo was not of superior quality and could not be played for longer hours. It could only play audiocassettes. Moreover, the sound quality was not up to the mark. The longevity of this old car stereo was poor too. Compared to new car stereo the old car stereo was quite big in size.
Other than the looks of the car stereo, the products are always valued for sound quality. The new car stereo has a DVD player and pop up display LCD screens. The LCD screens can be either slide out or folded, though that depends on the head unit. Nowadays, new car stereos can fit in traffic signal messages and has a memory card with huge space. Some of the new car stereos include MP3 players, CD system, etc.
An MP3 car stereo is a kind of stereo that can play audio CDs, MP3 files, etc. and that too for longer hours. One of the distinguishing features of this stereo is programmable track memory. The memory also comes with digital anti skip facility and digital standard headphones. In addition, they are endowed with AM/FM tuners where one can store FM and AM stations.
Loud car stereos are quite a craze among the young generation and can play music above 140 decibels. However, this kind of stereos can cause hearing problems. In fact, loud music inside the car can make one unaware of the surroundings that may cause severe accidents.
CD car stereos have become an essential car necessity. This new kind of car stereo is provided with radio. It is helpful in many ways because it allows the user to access or go through the latest updated news, information regarding travel, etc. They can also play MP3.
Presently, car stereos are not only entertainment equipment but, to some extent, they have become a status symbol also.

Car Computer Innovations Improve Safety And Economy

Car companies have tried to increase consumer safety throughout the years by coming up with newer and better computers for their cars. Every year, the latest model cars include more of these new computers whose sole purposes are to save lives and make driving the cars easier for the consumers. Here are three of the newest things in today’s car computers:

Stability management allows a car technology like the ABS (Anti-lock Brake System) and Traction Control systems, to control a vehicle against the tendency of directional instability. Using a system of sensors, it detects acceleration and speed of the wheels. ESC computer software determines if the vehicle is unstable, along with the degree to which the vehicle is plowing or fishtailing. It then selectively applies pressure to individual front or rear wheel brakes, and reduces engine power to bring it under control. These things happen so quickly that drivers never even notice something was wrong.

Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) is held accountable for changing vehicle speeds. It allows the engine speed to remain at its highest level of peak efficiency. This improves fuel economy while exhausting emissions. CVT is a transmission which changes seamlessly through any number of effective gear ratios. This car technology can provide better fuel economy over other transmissions by allowing the engine to run at its most efficient revolutions per minute (RPM) for a range of vehicle speeds.

Variable Valve Timing & Lift (VVT&L), which can go by many titles like, variable valve actuation (VVT), and variable-cam timing, are valves that control the flow of air and fuel into the cylinders while taking exhaust out of them. Depending on when, and how long the valves open up, along with how much movement they allow, both affect engine efficiency. Optimum timing and lift settings are different for high and low engine speeds. Traditional designs use fixed timing and lift settings, which is a compromise between the optimum for high and low speeds. VVT&L systems instantly alter timing and lift for the optimum settings of engine speed. This has been a great development for improving fuel economy for many cars, which also helps with the economy of the consumer’s pocket as well.

Most consumers drive their cars not knowing that their car’s computer does so much in order to save their lives and their pockets. These new innovative programs ran by today’s modern car computers are just a few of the many functions that they can do.

3 Advantages Of Hybrid Cars Over Conventional Cars

Due to the rising cost of fuel and the environmental damage it causes to our planet, many car owners or buyers are looking for an alternative way to save money. Let’s face it, fuel supply is finite and the prices of gas is only going to rise higher and higher. That is where a hybrid car has its advantages

Hybrid cars have been gaining in popularity in recent years. With lower cost of production and new hybrid car technology being developed, owning a hybrid car is becoming affordable to everyone.

Hybrid Cars Saves Gas

The obvious advantage of using hybrid cars is that it saves gas. Combining the cleaner energy of an electric motor with the long range capacity of a gasoline engine allows a hybrid car to save as much as 30 miles a gallon. One feature of hybrid cars is that the gasoline engine is shut off automatically when the car stops. This also helps in saving fuel. That is also the reason why hybrid cars are so quiet why it is stationary. The gasoline engine is automatically turned on when you step on the accelerator pedal.

Hybrid Cars Are Environment Friendly

Hybrid cars emit lower toxic emissions compared to conventional gasoline-powered cars due to less gasoline being burned. It is environmentally friendly, causes less pollution and releases less carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. If you do not know, carbon dioxide is one of the primary reasons for rising global warming. For example, the Toyota Prius can reduce tailpipe emissions by up to ninety percent and the greenhouse gas emissions by as much as fifty percent.

Tax Incentives For Hybrid Cars

Due to world political pressures around the world to reduce greenhouse emissions, President Bush signed an agreement in 2005 to provide huge tax relief to hybrid car buyers. The tax incentive varies by model and are based on two factors

1. How fuel efficient the hybrid car is compared to a conventional car in 2002 with the same weight class.

2. How much gasoline the hybrid car can save in its lifetime compared with an equivalent conventional car

For example, a Honda Accord hybrid car have reduced tax credits of $600 while a Toyota Prius has a tax credit of $3150. Do note that the tax credits do expire after 2010 for most hybrid cars.

Hybrid car manufacturers are continually researching for more ways to reduce fuel consumption and better fuel efficiency. Also as more hybrid cars are being adopted, the cost of hybrid cars will reduce making it more affordable for everyone.
