Well its about time... Right.... Where have you been.? ... everyone’s been asking... Well we are back on the internet, finally

We left Tahoe, and went to Sacramento for a week, (California State Parks have an 8 day limit stay per month in the summer) not our style, it was like a stopover. We visited the Railroad Museum there, a must see, and went to an Asian festival (got it all on video). We continued on to Watsonville to spend Memorial weekend with lots of Vets in a markshift campground (actually a runway). We really enjoyed this air show. We were there for 5 days. We had passes for all these days. Lots of static displays. Speggetti dinners with music...It was great... Lots of video there too.

I will add these albums and write-ups to the website real soon.....

So now we are in Klamath CA. Otherwise know as the Wild Rivers area. One of the coolest places in the US, literally, at night it gets down to 43- 53 degree range, during the day it gets from 66 - 75 max. (travel 20 miles east of here and it would be in the 100's). Mornings start off foggy because we are right on the Pacific Ocean, but it generally clears by noon. It gets real pretty by the afternoon and evenings. We have gone out at first light to fish for Salmon, its surreal going upriver with the fog. There is a dry ice like fog thats on the river surface because the waters of the river are warm.

Whats there to do around here....

Well, lots of people come to the Redwoods National Forest. Which is great... Lots of camping in the woods. Others come to the cool beaches and sand dunes. All this area is free..... there are no gates. The regulars come from all over for the whole summer in their RV's to fish... fish and fish.... So far there has been some Salmon..... But when the Salmon really run, probably starting in the middle of August thru September, they'll arrive in the tens of thousands. 20, 30, 40 lb fish that give a great fight.... Plenty to go around, you go out everyday and catch your limit..... 2 a day.... These fisherman come well stocked...... They all have large freezers outside their RV’s and some of them also have portable canning appliances....like an industry... They catch enough fish to eat Salmon the rest of the year after they leave in September..... After the fishing ends this whole area closes down until next May. ...........

For now, Perch fishing is the in thing to do......You go over to the beach during low tide and dig for Sand Crabs, fun, grab a couple of mussels of the rocks too... This is your bait.... you could also buy it,.....but miss out on the fun of walking barefoot on the beach, with the crashing waves and breeze, with a shovel and bucket in hand... Not a chance.

During the week the girls go to Boy and Girls Club at the local school. This is in the afternoon. They have a great time.... the program is free and they play basketball, soccer, do nature hikes...there are about twenty of them.. It's only 1/2 mile away and they come home tired every day with lots of stories. The local Yurok Indian tribe always has something going on too.... Last weekend Lynn went to a ceremonial Brush Dance.......... all their events are also free..........and they have lots of food... they always have smoked Salmon. The Indians catch Salmon every day, they are allowed to use nets of course. So we eat alot of Salmon, also Albacore ($1.50 Lb off the fishing boats in Crecent City) Its great blackened.....

Our boat is in the water, on the docks, always ready..... we fear no fish.........Can't wait till the Salmon arrive... any day now...

We will be spending the whole summer here, probably through Labor Day....need a vacation? your welcome to come and share in the fun.....
